To open the 43rd edition of the Pistoia Blues Festival, Thursday, July 4, 2024, at 9 PM, in Piazza del Duomo, there will be a concert by Calexico.
The band, founded by Joey Burns and John Convertino, will bring the sounds of desert folk blues to the Festival stage for the first time. Calexico has indeed spent much of the last thirty years exploring the dusty musical borders of the American Southwest, thus creating unique, cinematic, and mysterious songs.
The group has collaborated with multiple artists, from Willie Nelson and Jim James to Nancy Sinatra and Neko Case, and has participated in various festivals, from Bonnaroo to Lollapalooza, from Glastonbury to Roskilde.
The album released in 2022, El Mirador serves both as a point of observation and a beacon in the darkness, an opportunity to look within, reflecting on the connection between the Earth and its people.
