Every first Sunday of the month is #domenicalmuseo (#Sundayathemuseum). The initiative of the Ministry of Italian Culture provides free entry to museums and places of culture.
For the occasion, the entry ticket of the Civic Museums (City Museum of Antique Art, Museum of the Spedale del Ceppo and The Palazzo Fabroni Museum of 20th-Century and Contemporary Art) will be free.
City Museum of Antique Art
The City Museum of Antique Art is the city’s first and largest museum. Pistoia’s entire history of art from the 13th to the 20th century is represented here, organized in chronological order with groupings of the Florentine and Pistoia schools.
The Museum of the Spedale del Ceppo
The Museum of the Spedale del Ceppo illustrates the historical, architectural, and artistic events surrounding the building, with a specific section dedicated to the Della Robbia Frieze in polychrome glazed terracotta, set on the external loggia – a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture.
The museum has also a large section on the history of healthcare in Pistoia, through specific studies of the rich historical collection of surgical instruments, dating from the 18th century to the early decades of the 20th century.
Palazzo Fabroni Museum of 20th-century and contemporary art
The Palazzo Fabroni Museum of 20th-Century and Contemporary Art exhibits the Municipality of Pistoia’s permanent collection of modern and contemporary art, spanning the art scene from the 1920s to the present day. It houses temporary exhibitions.
